Kendall County Food Pantry

Who We Are

The Kendall County Food Pantry was established in 1983. Our first home was located in the basement of the Kendall County Farm Bureau and was created to help families affected by the Caterpillar Strike. The first night the Pantry served 23 families. At that location we worked out of limited space two hours a week and would serve 80-100 families a week. As families continued to struggle through the economic hardships it was evident that we needed a larger space and in 2008 we moved into a donated building located in the Fox Industrial Park in Yorkville. The numbers of families have increased by 303% as we currently serve over 7000 families in a year. Realizing that we had to expand our services to meet the growing needs of the local communities we moved into our new 36,000 square foot facility located at 208 Beaver Street in Yorkville in 2012. The Kendall County Food Pantry is an all volunteer organization.

What We Do

The Pantry not only distributes food but offers clothing, pet food, diapers, health and beauty items on a weekly basis. While we support food pantries in our surrounding area we also provide food for Kendall County Senior Services, Kendall County PADS, Hesed House, Kendall Cares Clinic, Crop Walk, Big Day of Serving, Red Cross Disaster Relief, the YARN Foundation and various churches. During the summer the pantry has Project Brown Bag that provides weekly lunches for kids in need. We also work in conjunction with the Yorkville School District by providing food for their Empty Bowl Project.

Additionally, the Pantry also works with Spay Illinois to offer low cost pet vaccines on a monthly basis. Other services provided include; income tax preparation, flu shots, and school supplies. We continue to partner with the Yorkville Junior Woman's Club for Operation Santa that provides Christmas gifts for children. The Pantry volunteers assemble teen bags for Christmas and in the Spring prepare Easter Baskets.

Project Stand By Me 2014

The Kendall County Food Pantry has served those in need throughout our county for over three decades. Two years ago, the pantry moved its operation to a facility far better suited to meet the growing needs of the community. At present, the Kendall County Food Pantry provides assistance to more than 7,000 adults and children in our county as as many struggle financially  and experience devastating strain due to the loss of jobs, the rising cost of living and gas prices, and other personal demands.

The success of the event depends once again on our ability to gain, through charitable contributions, an interesting and attractive selection of items and services during the evening's silent and live auctions. Your donation of an item or service for the charity auctino will help us ensure that the pantry shelves remain well-stocked in the coming months. The Kendall County Food Pantry is a 501C3 not for profit organization, and your donation is tax deductible according to the provisions of the IRS.

In years past we have been able to fund new projects such as Project Brown Bag, which provides lunch meals during the summer time for families in need, we have been able to purchase a vehicle to deliver items to those that are home bound and this year we will be focusing on the the Kendall Free Clinic; this clinic will offer free medical services for our clients. Services included: Healthcare for childrena and adults, Treatment for chronic and acute illness, Specialist referrals on a limited basis, Limited Diagnostic servics and physicals.

Any item in the form of a gift item or monetary donation would greatly be appreciated and used in the fight against hunger in Kendall County. Thank-you for your continued support.
