Volunteer tutors receive 16 hours of training and materials they can use to help an adult learner improve his or her reading, writing, math, or English language skills. Training is free, and is offered several times a year on Saturdays on Waubonsee's Aurora campus. An online training option is available for prospective volunteers who cannot attend Saturday training.
Upon successful completion of the training, the volunteer will be given a placement, either working with a student individually, as a facilitator of a small group, or as a classroom tutor.
Volunteers must be a high school graduate or have earned their GED.
