Cooking, Caring, Compassion and Community
Fox Valley Food for Health teaches teens to grow and prepare healthy, beautiful meals that are delivered to patients dealing with serious illness (predominantly cancer), and their families. The program is unique in that four separate groups benefit from the program:
Patients and their families who receive healthy nutritious meals during treatment,
Caregivers who are freed up to focus on the emotional and practical needs of their family;
Teens, who receive focused training in cooking from formally trained mentor chefs and nutrition from a licensed dietician;
Adult volunteers, who get a wonderful sense of fulfillment as they give back to the community, and have a chance to fight back against a disease that has affected so many of us.
Every week, many Fox Valley Food for Health volunteers join us to grow, prepare, cook, package, and deliver our delicious and nutritious meals.
