Suicide Prevention Ministry

Who We Are

Suicide Prevention Ministry (SPM) is:

  • A ‘grassroots’ organization;
  • Powered by people impacted by mental illness and suicide
  • Staffed by volunteers
  • A 501-c-3 tax deductible corporation funded by voluntary gifts
  • A collaborative and cooperative entity, building relationships to foster synergy action and renewing hope to those who have lost it
  • A proponent of personal testimony and witness to lift stigma
  • An Independent Lutheran Organization working collaboratively to implement suicide prevention policies approved by the ELCA.

What We Do

The SPM mission is to reduce suicide by equipping faith-based communities to tackle suicide prevention. SPM empowers congregations to educate, bring awareness, and reduce the stigma about mental illness and suicide by being an e-resource and consultant to church communities as well developing new faith-based materials.
